Core Web Vitals are the metrics Google uses to describe real page experience: how fast your main content loads, how quickly the page responds and how stable the layout feels. Speed shapes how visitors feel about your site and is part of how Google evaluates page experience, and you do not need to be a developer to understand it.
Google publishes recommended thresholds for each metric, so check the current values in its documentation.
Use PageSpeed Insights and the Core Web Vitals report in Google Search Console. They combine lab tests with real-user data and point to specific problems.
Fast pages help, but relevance and content quality still decide most rankings. Treat speed as a foundation that supports good content and a smooth path to conversion.
Start with your most important pages: the home page, your top service pages and your best-performing articles. Run each through PageSpeed Insights, fix the largest issue first, then retest. One or two focused fixes, such as compressing hero images and removing unused scripts, often move the numbers more than a long list of small tweaks.
They are one of many page experience signals. Strong content and relevance still matter most, but poor scores can hold back a good page, especially against equally relevant competitors.
Google publishes the current thresholds for INP, LCP and CLS in its documentation, and they can change, so check the latest values there instead of relying on a fixed number.
Review the Search Console report monthly and after any major design, plugin or hosting change.
